I like movies that I grew up on, and older ones I am a fan of some types of movies, but not necessarily all within one genre. I enjoy science fiction, but I expect it to be well-thought out and not silly junk that hides it's inadequacies behind a wall of CGI. I don't enjoy CGI spectacle and find films that rely too heavily on it to be a complete bore. It has it's place, but so does acting, directorial skill, editing, music, and other tried and true tools that have delivered classics over the ages. Hitchcock will always be the master, and Mel brooks will always be the guy who lampooned the greats and made me laugh. I love the first three ALIEN films, I enjoy the old Star Wars trilogy, I am a huge 007 fan who owns all of the films (even the lesser known stuff like 1954's Climax episode that adapted Casino Royale). Favorite actors are Christopher Lee and Gene Wilder off the top of my head. I am a big John Carpenter fan as well. I like certain aspects of all genres, but I am picky and have quality standards. People say I nitpick too much, but I just expect the film makers to put forth some effort and not be lazy.
