- Joseph L. Mankiewicz, director of "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)", "Cleopatra (1963)", and won an Academy Award for "All About Eve (1950). Just because it may have been filmed in black and white doesn`t make it`s content lacking in colorful inspirations. Actually, to be honest, in a list of my favorite films, I`d be willing to bet a greater number of them would fall in the black-and-white column. "The 27th Day" (Gene Barry-195, "The Day The Earth Caught Fire" (Edward Judd-1961) and "Wild in the Streets" (Christopher Jones-196 are as valid as many `accredited` films. My taste lean more toward films that linger in my head long after the lights come up and the curtain goes down.
