What bugs me is that no one sells videotapes hardly at all, and still fewer sell video cleaning units.

My tape of "Slaughter of the Vampires" looks as good as ever, but shortly after I fail to find any more head cleaning units, my video head will wear out and if I haven't converted my tapes to dvds with the help of my friend Hector, my tapes will become trash.

I'm sorry this is so unorigiinal a topic, but how come you can still read the Iliad after 2,900 years, and I can't watch movies I paid good money for?

- Being one who STILL uses VHS, I can share that the 99 cent chain of
stores still sells TDK, 99 cents each. And Walmart, 6-packs for about $5.50.

- Sometimes, again, the 99 cents stores.

- They're no longer $700 to replace. Last VCR servicing for head
replacement (and a RARE event at that) was only around $100.

- Combo conversion units (VHS on the left, DVD burner on the right)
have come DOWN so much in price it's now possible to find the 'round $100.
You don't need Hector.

- I'm still watching recordings I made in 1985. I was told the TAPE would
crumble away by that time (some have curled slightly ... but they are
still watchable).
