Ian Curtis Movie Soundtrack Takes Shape with David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Roxy Music

By: Spacelab Research Staff
The soundtrack for the new movie Control, about Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, is starting to take shape with much speculation around who's going to contribute.

The official word on the film score is that it's being done by New Order and will feature original tracks from Warsaw and Joy Division. A recent interview with Director Anton Corbijn in The Guardian reports that he asked the Killers to play the Joy Division song Shadowplay, but fails to follow up on whether the band will contribute. Let's start a rumor, people! Wait.. it's British. Let's start a rumour, people! The Killers are in!

The soundtrack has a wider group of contributors, and this is all very fuzzy at the moment; confirmed acts so far also include David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Roxy Music, Lou Reed, the S-- Pistols, and the Buzzc----. Among the bands rumored to be included are: U2, Marilyn Manson, and Doves, The Cure, Bauhaus, The Creatures and Depeche Mode. And the Killers (rumour!).

In a "special" message to Spacelab via email, Director Anton Corbijn had this to say about how things were going on the set so far, "The greatest surprise has been how good the four actors playing the Joy Division members have been musically. They are stars and the movie benefits so much from their dedication to play the music as well as Joy Division did live."

This will be the be the first movie that Anton Corbijn has directed. He's well known as a photographer and music video director, with over 75 videos behind him already. The film is based on the book by Touching From A Distance, written by Ian's wife Deborah Curtis. The film stars Sam Riley (24 Hour Party People) as Ian Curtis and Samantha Morton (Minority Report, Code 46) as Deborah Curtis, and is due out in early 2007.

`Been a Kevin Bacon fan since his debut performance in Animal House.
When I REALLY took note was four year later with Diner which also
spotlighted for MY first time Daniel Stern, Steve Guttenberg,
Mickey Rourke, Tim Daly, Ellen Barkin, Paul Reiser, and Michael Tucker.

I BOUGHT a copy of Death Sentence, and YES, it's VERY good.

So is his PREVIOUS film, The Woodsman, where wife, Kyra Sedgwick
co-starred.
